Chrome Extension Privacy Policy

Scope and contact

This policy covers the Office Chair Butt Chrome extension, a free, lightweight movement reminder designed for people who spend time working at a computer.

The extension operates independently of the Office Chair Butt website and iOS app, which have their own privacy policies. For questions about the extension or your privacy, use our Contact page.

Information stored locally

The extension uses Chrome’s chrome.storage.local storage to save your preferences and reminder settings on your device.

This information may include your selected workdays and hours, reminder intervals, pause and snooze preferences, break duration, appearance settings, and reminder state. These settings allow the extension to remember your preferences and manage reminders without requiring an account.

Your locally stored reminder settings are not transmitted to Office Chair Butt’s servers or shared with third parties by the extension. We do not maintain a separate online copy of your extension preferences.

Browser permissions

Office Chair Butt uses a limited set of Chrome extension permissions to provide its reminder functionality:

• Storage: Saves your reminder schedule, preferences, and extension state locally on your device.
• Alarms: Schedules movement reminders according to your settings.
• Notifications: Displays movement reminders through Chrome and your operating system.

The extension does not request access to your browsing history, visited websites, page contents, or personal files. It does not monitor what you type or collect the contents of other browser tabs.

Reminders operate locally while Chrome is running and depend on your browser and operating system allowing notifications.

Accounts, advertising, and analytics

The Chrome extension is free to use and does not require an account, registration, or sign-in.

The extension does not include advertisements, advertising SDKs, analytics services, or behavioral tracking. It does not offer paid Pro features or use a developer-operated backend to collect your activity or reminder preferences.

The extension’s privacy practices are separate from the iOS app’s advertising and purchase functionality and from the website’s Google Analytics integration.

Your choices and controls

You can change your reminder schedule, adjust reminder intervals, snooze reminders, or pause and resume the extension through its settings and controls.

You can also manage or disable Chrome notifications through your browser or operating system settings.

Data retention and removal

Your preferences remain in Chrome’s local extension storage while the extension is installed, unless they are reset or cleared. Uninstalling the extension normally removes its locally stored data, although browser or device backups may follow their own retention practices.

Because Office Chair Butt does not receive or maintain a separate copy of your locally stored extension preferences, we do not have access to those settings or a server-side record to delete.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The extension uses information stored through Chrome’s extension APIs solely to provide its disclosed movement reminder functionality, including scheduling notifications and remembering user preferences.

Office Chair Butt does not sell extension user data, use locally stored reminder preferences for advertising, or transfer those preferences to third parties. The extension’s use of browser permissions and locally stored information is intended to follow the Chrome Web Store Limited Use policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if the extension’s functionality, permissions, storage practices, or information-handling behavior changes. Material changes affecting user privacy will be reflected in this policy.
