Website Privacy Policy

What this policy covers

This policy covers the Office Chair Butt website, the Guided Desk Movement Break, the Interactive Desk Setup Checker, and educational guides. The separate products have their own policies: iOS app privacy and Chrome extension privacy. Their practices should not be inferred from the website.

For privacy questions or requests, use our Contact page.

The website and hosting

Our website is hosted on Namecheap shared hosting. The hosting provider may process technical information, such as IP addresses, browser details, requested pages, and access times, to deliver, maintain, and secure the website. The exact server log fields and retention periods depend on the hosting configuration.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, connected through Google Site Kit, to understand how visitors use our website and improve its content and functionality.

Google Analytics may collect information about pages visited, general website interactions, traffic sources, browser and device characteristics, approximate geographic location, and identifiers associated with analytics cookies. This information is processed by Google to provide website measurement and reporting services.

Google Analytics may use cookies such as _ga and _ga_* to distinguish visitors and maintain session information. Where applicable, analytics cookie use is controlled through our consent settings. Depending on the Google Consent Mode configuration, limited measurements without analytics cookies may still be transmitted to Google when analytics consent is denied.

Analytics data is retained according to the settings of our Google Analytics account and Google’s applicable data-processing practices. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy.

Free browser tools

The Guided Desk Movement Break builds and times a movement session in your browser tab. Its choices and session progress stay in page memory while the tab is open. Its current code does not send those choices to Office Chair Butt or save a session history in browser storage.

The Interactive Desk Setup Checker uses your answers in the same browser tab to generate setup suggestions. Its current code does not submit answers to the website or save them in browser storage. Reloading or closing the tab clears them. Neither tool creates a health record or provides a medical assessment.

General visits to tool pages and website interactions may be measured through Google Analytics as described above. The tools’ own functionality does not transmit your movement choices or desk setup answers as part of their assessments.

Cookies and browser storage

WordPress may use cookies for site administration and sign-in. Neither free browser tool uses local or session storage for your session choices or assessment answers.

We use CookieAdmin to manage cookie preferences. It may store your consent choices in your browser so they can be remembered during later visits. Where a cookie notice or preference control is provided, you can review and change your choices using those controls.

Google Analytics may use non-essential analytics cookies, including _ga and _ga_*, subject to applicable consent settings. These cookies help measure visits and website usage. We do not currently use website advertising cookies through an advertising integration.

Email messages

The Contact page offers a message form. If you use the form, your name, email address, optional topic, and message are sent through the website’s mail service to our inbox so we can answer you. The current form code does not save message contents in the WordPress database. For abuse prevention, it stores a salted hash of the submitting IP address with a counter for about ten minutes. After successful sending, it also stores a salted fingerprint derived from the email address and message for about ten minutes to detect duplicates. A processing lock is normally removed when sending finishes; if a request is interrupted, a stale lock is cleared on a later submission attempt. The site and its mail provider may process normal delivery metadata. Mailbox retention depends on the email service and our message-handling practices.

Sharing, retention, and deletion

Neither free browser tool transmits your assessment answers or session choices to Office Chair Butt or retains them in browser storage. Website hosting, email delivery, cookie consent management, and analytics involve the service providers described in this policy. Their respective retention periods depend on the service and applicable settings.

You can use our Contact page to ask about information associated with your correspondence or to make a privacy-related request.

Other privacy policies

Read the separate iOS app privacy policy for local app data and advertising SDK disclosures, or the Chrome extension privacy policy for local browser settings and permissions.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our hosting, analytics, browser tools, or other information-handling practices change.
